The EYCP Forum

The Forum is the main way that Edinburgh Young Carers Project consults young people about their views and encourages them to become involved with the project.

It is held fortnightly in various relevant locations and has been up and running in its current form since Jan ’10.

The aims of the forum decided by the young people are:

Raise awareness of Young Carers
Let Young Carers have a voice and be heard
Advertise EYCP and their services

The activities covered so far have included:

Designing a t-shirt for EYCP
Anti-bullying consultation from City of Edinburgh Council
Writing and presenting a news report
Photograms @ Stills Gallery
Educational visit to The Fruitmarket Gallery
Fine dining at Tower Restaurant as a reward for all the hard work!

Future activities for the forum to undertake as decided by the young people are:

Video diaries about being a young carer
Organise a debate/meeting with local MPs
Newsletter starting online and moving offline in the future
Make a CD of music and poems
A photographic exhibition and or course
Start up a drama club
Visits to places of interest
